Miller, Plain Dealer reporter November 04, 2009, 7:45PM The Animal Lovers Club at Mayfield Middle School decorated dog biscuits Monday in Christmas and Hanukkah themes and packaged them to send to Iraq and Afghanistan for the soldiers' dogs. "It is our holiday gift to them, our way of saying thank you. We hope it brings them much joy," seventh-grader Stephanie Lamb said. The club of 50 sixth- and seventh-graders meets monthly and also makes dog and cat treats and collects blankets and towels they deliver to local animal shelters. Anyone interested in helping the club with its philanthropy can call their adviser, Toni Carlton, at 440-995-7837. Star Spangled Treats in Twinsburg donated the 200 dog biscuits the students adorned and also sends biscuits to the troops when customers buy biscuits. Mayfield Middle School students Stephanie Lamb, Alyssa Piazza and Katie Milenius prepare dog biscuits for the war dogs in Afghanistan and Iraq.
