Winter Tips for you and your dog

Now that winter is upon us remember your dog still needs exercise. A dog should get at least 60
minutes of exercise daily not only for physical needs but mental as well. However, if you are
playing/walking outside for an extended period of time during the cold weather remember to
bring your dog indoors at once so they do not get Hypothermia.

Also dogs with arthritis are much more sensitive in the cold. My dog Tanqueray has arthritis
therefore she spends a
very limited time outside during the cold months.

My gigantic dog Baccarat has to get his daily exercise if he doesn’t he gets so depressed and
sometimes even chases his tail – not a good sign. On those days when it is too cold we play
'find the ball or biscuit'. I send my dogs to their room, shut the door then hide either their balls or
biscuits throughout the house. Then I open the door and say “Find the ball" (or biscuits).
It works wonders. We first started playing this game with biscuits. They catch on much faster with
biscuits (of course). On those cold days I do this several times a day and I must say they get a
pretty good workout.

Choose your deicer carefully. Choose one that will not burn your dogs paws.
A safe, pet friendly deicer product.  WALK SAFE will not burn pets paws or cause irritation. This is
a non-corrosive, all natural product that does not contain chlorides of any kind.
